You’ve got to give it to our friends across the pond; an extra holiday between Halloween and Christmas…YES PLEASE! Thanksgiving of course is about a lot more than stuffing yourself full of delicious home cooking, it’s a day to praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens’ or so said Abe Lincoln back in the day.

These days it’s more about sitting back, relaxing and enjoying spectacular parades and cheering on your team during the NFL match. The annual Macy’s Day Parades has been running since 1924 and is the world largest parade; featuring floats, cartoon balloons, marching band and TV personalities. Macy’s may have the biggest parade but 6abc Dunkin’ Donuts has the oldest (yes those donuts) their parade has been running since 1920.

We also have Thanksgiving to thank for the joy that is Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Traditionally on the Friday and Monday following Thanksgiving Day retailers open their doors to crowds dying to pick up a great bargain and get their Christmas shopping well underway.

Since we reckon Thanksgiving sounds like a great holiday we are hosting our very own Thanksgiving dinner.

thanks giving
